AI, Insurance, and Responsibility

On October 22, 2026, I participated in a conference hosted by Oz Berkovitz Law Office, joining a panel on artificial intelligence and insurance claims.

I presented a framework I develop in my research: the “Best Algorithmic Risk Governor.” It focuses on identifying the actor best positioned to detect failures in an AI system and reduce the resulting harm. We discussed how responsibility should be allocated among developers, insurers, and users, and how insurance can encourage responsible adoption of AI.

It was a pleasure to bring my research into conversation with professionals from insurance, law, and medicine. My thanks to the firm’s team for the invitation and hospitality, and to my fellow panelists for a thoughtful and engaging discussion.
